Philippe Ernewein is an educator, literary translator, and speaker originally from Turnhout, Belgium. In 1980, he immigrated to the United States, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from Longwood University (1994) and a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Colorado (2003). He is an alumnus of Teach For America.

Philippe has worked in education since 1994 and currently serves as the Director of Education at Denver Academy in Colorado, where he leads curriculum innovation, instructional coaching, and faculty professional learning. He presents annually at national and international educational conferences and workshops on topics including memory, learning, executive functioning, instructional practice, educational leadership, and the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence in education.

In addition to his work in education, Philippe is a literary translator dedicated to introducing contemporary Flemish poetry to English-speaking audiences. His published translations of the work of Belgian poet Willem M. Roggeman include What Only Painters See (2023) and The Day That Icarus Crashed Into Our Backyard (2026), both of which were published in the United States. His translation work reflects his lifelong passion for language, literature, and building cultural connections through the written word.

Philippe serves as a consultant for Celebrate EDU, a nonprofit organization committed to creating a bright future for young adults with developmental disabilities and diverse learning profiles. He previously served as a consultant for Words Beyond Bars, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to bringing transformative literature to incarcerated individuals.

Throughout his career, Philippe has been recognized for excellence in teaching, leadership, and service. He received the Floyd G. Hudson Service Award from the Council for Learning Disabilities and was named the Colorado Council for Learning Disabilities Professional of the Year in 2017. He was selected for the Teach For America Alumni Fellowship Schools to Learn From program (2016), received Denver Academy's Wings of the Future Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership (2007), and was nominated for the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education (2006).

Philippe lives with his family and a flock of chickens on the eastern bank of the Platte River near Denver, Colorado.
