Project: Poetry
During the first 2 years of my teaching career, as a Teach For America Corps Member, I taught at East St. John High School, in Reserve, Louisiana. My students taught me more than I thought I could ever learn. We created a poetry club. We conducted workshops, published, and organized public reading. Locally, it got some press. Here are the clippings:
-River Parish Times-Picayune: "Project cultivates budding poets"
-L'Observateur: "Poetry, Local students bring original words to life"
